No crowds. No fixed schedule. Just the sea, the boat, and your own pace.

This route crosses open water from the south of Rhodes, passing Chalki and Alimia, stopping at the monastery of Panormitis, and finishing at the breathtaking harbour of Symi.

Destination: Symi

The route takes you across some of the most open and beautiful water in the Dodecanese, with island stops along the way before arriving at Symi.

From here, the experience continues with exploring the harbour, swimming, and time at your own pace.

Boat Cruise from Plimmiri to Symi island

Symi is one of those destinations that genuinely surprises people. The approach by sea into the harbour of Gialos is one of the most dramatic arrivals in all of Greece, with neoclassical mansions in ochre and terracotta climbing steeply up from the waterfront on both sides.

The route from Plimmiri takes you past Chalki and Alimia, two small islands in the open water between Rhodes and Symi, before reaching the monastery of Panormitis on the southern tip of Symi. Panormitis is one of the most important monasteries in the Dodecanese and arriving by boat directly into its sheltered bay is a completely different experience from coming by ferry.

From Panormitis the cruise continues north along the coastline of Symi to Gialos, the main harbour. Here time is yours. Walk the waterfront, swim from the boat, explore the village, or simply sit with a coffee and take in one of the most beautiful harbours in the Aegean.

This is a full day on open water, with real distance covered and real islands visited, done entirely at your own pace.

What you’ll experience

⚓ Departure from Plimmiri

A quiet marina on the south coast of Rhodes, far from busy ports. Your cruise begins in total calm, setting the tone for the full day ahead.

🏝️ Chalki and Alimia

Two small islands in the open water between Rhodes and Symi. Remote, quiet, and rarely visited, they mark the midpoint of the crossing.

⛪ Panormitis Monastery

One of the most important monasteries in the Dodecanese, sitting in a sheltered bay on the southern tip of Symi. Arriving here by private boat is a rare and peaceful experience.

🏛️ Gialos, Symi

The main harbour of Symi, lined with neoclassical mansions in ochre and terracotta rising steeply from the waterfront. One of the most beautiful harbour arrivals in the Aegean.

Why Visit Symi by Boat

Symi is reachable by ferry from Rhodes Town, but arriving by private boat from Plimmiri is a completely different experience. You travel at your own pace, stop where you want, and arrive into Gialos from the sea rather than from a crowded ferry deck.

The route also takes you past Chalki, Alimia and Panormitis, places the ferry does not stop, turning the journey itself into a full day of discovery rather than just a transfer to a destination.
