Destination: Symi
The route takes you across some of the most open and beautiful water in the Dodecanese, with island stops along the way before arriving at Symi.
From here, the experience continues with exploring the harbour, swimming, and time at your own pace.
Boat Cruise from Plimmiri to Symi island
Symi is one of those destinations that genuinely surprises people. The approach by sea into the harbour of Gialos is one of the most dramatic arrivals in all of Greece, with neoclassical mansions in ochre and terracotta climbing steeply up from the waterfront on both sides.
The route from Plimmiri takes you past Chalki and Alimia, two small islands in the open water between Rhodes and Symi, before reaching the monastery of Panormitis on the southern tip of Symi. Panormitis is one of the most important monasteries in the Dodecanese and arriving by boat directly into its sheltered bay is a completely different experience from coming by ferry.
From Panormitis the cruise continues north along the coastline of Symi to Gialos, the main harbour. Here time is yours. Walk the waterfront, swim from the boat, explore the village, or simply sit with a coffee and take in one of the most beautiful harbours in the Aegean.
This is a full day on open water, with real distance covered and real islands visited, done entirely at your own pace.
What you’ll experience
⚓ Departure from Plimmiri
A quiet marina on the south coast of Rhodes, far from busy ports. Your cruise begins in total calm, setting the tone for the full day ahead.🏝️ Chalki and Alimia
Two small islands in the open water between Rhodes and Symi. Remote, quiet, and rarely visited, they mark the midpoint of the crossing.⛪ Panormitis Monastery
One of the most important monasteries in the Dodecanese, sitting in a sheltered bay on the southern tip of Symi. Arriving here by private boat is a rare and peaceful experience.🏛️ Gialos, Symi
The main harbour of Symi, lined with neoclassical mansions in ochre and terracotta rising steeply from the waterfront. One of the most beautiful harbour arrivals in the Aegean. Why Visit Symi by Boat
Symi is reachable by ferry from Rhodes Town, but arriving by private boat from Plimmiri is a completely different experience. You travel at your own pace, stop where you want, and arrive into Gialos from the sea rather than from a crowded ferry deck.
The route also takes you past Chalki, Alimia and Panormitis, places the ferry does not stop, turning the journey itself into a full day of discovery rather than just a transfer to a destination.

Captain Savvas was an exceptional host. We highly recommend a day out with Tropida Boat Adventures. Every aspect was excellent; stops at bays for swimming, fruit platter and cheese platter, drinks, music. Any event catered for. We recommend adding the onboard barbecue option to your day. A must do when in Rhodes. Thank you Captain Savvas.Posted on Google Hanna KarbowskiTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. It was an amazing time with Savva! The six of us had a great time on his boat, snorkeling and chilling in the sun with wine, drinks and a fruit plate. Savva was very professional and helped us out with everything we needed. He even prepared small cakes for our friend who celebrated her birthday. Thank you Savva for an amazing experience in Rhodes!Posted on Google FOTIS CHTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We contacted Savva on click a boat with regards to the itinerary we wanted to do. He responded straight away. He kept us informed and in contact with us daily where to meet at the marina and what would be included in the trip. He made us safe from the get go especially in a foreign country and booking over the internet. He did not disappoint. He met us at reception and took us to his boat. He was so friendly especially to the kids. Treated us like family from the start. We went on our trip and we couldn’t have expected anything more. Savva explained parts we were visiting. We stopped at each spot and had as long as we wanted to swim. There was no set times of when we had to be back. He allowed us to explore and enjoy our time with the children and make amazing memories. We wasn’t rushed at all. When we got back on the boat after our first stop there was a massive fruit bowl. Best fruit I’ve tasted. We chatted and then off to our second stop. We did 5 stops altogether and took us around 4 hours. He wasn’t rushing to get back like most companies would. If we went over he said it wouldn’t be a problem. After the 3rd stop he put us a lovely cheese & meat bored. Just enough to fill the gap in our bellies ready for another stop and jump. Drinks were there whenever we wanted. He Let the kids explore inside the boat also. They were amazed. We were given life jackets from the start as my little one was abit nervous. Savvas made him feel at ease straight away. Gave them flippers for their feet which made them happy. My little one has never been so confidence in the water as he did then. He got the paddle board out for the kids to use which was lovely as they’ve never done that before. He let the kids jump off the little board which they loved. All these little things made the trip so personal. The best little idea which I didn’t think of was a waterproof camera. Savva gave us one to take as many pics as we wanted. So thankful for this as we took some great and not so great ones lol. On the way back we all sat on the front of the boat. What an experience. We spoke, swam, laughed and drank. Nothing was too much for Savvas. He was a great host. He even offered to let the boys fish on the way back which was a dream for my eldest. It was just right. It was absolutely amazing. Couldn’t thank Savvas enough. Yes we paid more for a private boat than what you would to go in a big group but it was so worth it. By the time we got home we had the photos emailed to us straight away.Posted on Google ChrissaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Very nice experience!
